Our Focus at SCTE

Atlanta holds a unique place in our history. Comcast first piloted the X1 entertainment platform, transforming the way customers experienced television and streaming. In addition, the city was the testing ground for multigig speeds, pushing the boundaries of internet connectivity. And less than a year ago, Atlanta became among the first to debut DOCSIS 4.0 network technology, setting the stage for faster, more reliable broadband through its hybrid-fiber network.

Here’s what’s happening this year:

Janus is our initiative designed to maximize network performance and efficiency to deliver consistently fast, low-lag, ultra-reliable Internet to customers so they can stream live sports in 4K, stay connected when extreme weather hits, or use their increasing number of devices to videoconference, VR, game, surf and do everything else they want to do online.

We’re putting more computing power closer to consumers to deliver a better Internet experience for applications like streaming and gaming and to develop a standardized platform for providers to distribute their content across Comcast’s network through our deployment of Qwilt’s Open Edge platform.

The new technologies we’re showcasing at SCTE are made possible by decades of continuous advancement that has enabled us to provide our customers with one of the smartest and most sophisticated networks in the world. Our customers can rely on our AI-enabled network when they need it most, one that is resilient in the face of extreme circumstances, fast enough for the most advanced applications and protected from the most sophisticated cyber threats.

We’ve launched the first Commscope FDX amplifier, which is live serving customers in our network. With the deployment of FDX amplifiers, we’re poised to seamlessly deliver multigig symmetrical services, and enhanced reliability, security and performance, to customers served by the vast majority of our current network architecture.

Rogers-- Canada’s largest ISP--will embark on an industry-first implementation of our leading network design to further its strategy of delivering faster speeds, enhanced reliability, and lower latency across its footprint. The effort continues the expansion of our global technology platform, allowing service providers across the globe to deliver next-generation connectivity and entertainment experiences to customers.

We’ve collaborated with Broadcom Inc. and Charter Communications on the joint development of unified chipsets for network nodes and cable modems, which sets the stage for delivering speeds upwards of 25Gbps over existing networks.
